Key Roles and Responsibilities
Learning Needs Analysis and Course Design
- Conduct research, investigations, and consultations to identify learning needs of different target audiences (educators, caregivers, sector professionals).
- Engage stakeholders to define overall learning and performance objectives.
- Conduct feasibility studies and return-on-investment analyses to inform design choices.
- Determine appropriate learning delivery modes (face-to-face, blended, digital) to achieve objectives.
- Identify relevant learning technologies and systems to support implementation.
- Propose learning solutions and interventions that drive performance improvement and behaviour change.
- Develop implementation and communication plans for learning solutions, securing stakeholder buy-in.
- Design success metrics and performance measures linked to client objectives.
Training Delivery and Facilitation
- Deliver engaging, practice-based training in various settings (classroom, workplace, online).
- Implement learning interventions to facilitate acquisition of competencies and behaviour change.
- Develop and apply learner assessment methods and materials to monitor progress and competence.
- Trial new interventions, incorporating learner and stakeholder feedback to refine content.
- Implement strategies to manage learner development and address issues during training.
- Facilitate coaching, mentoring, and reflective practice for adult learners and professionals.
- Ensure alignment of delivery with RC’s Good Life Framework and sector standards.
Research, Evaluation & Knowledge Translation
- Lead courseware/curriculum evaluation processes, including formative and summative assessments.
- Conduct rigorous evaluations of training effectiveness, including take-up rates, attendance, completion, and assessment data.
- Synthesise learner assessment trends to identify strengths, gaps, and improvement areas.
- Collaborate with curriculum developers and adult educators to embed evidence-informed practices.
- Recommend and prioritise curriculum improvements based on evaluation findings and performance standards.
- Translate evaluation results into actionable insights, reports, and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Stay abreast of adult learning and special education research, disseminating best practices across RC and the sector.
Sector Consultancy, Linkages & Professional Renewal
- Undertake consultancy and applied projects to strengthen inclusive education practices and service delivery across the sector.
- Build and maintain strong linkages with schools, agencies, and industry partners to align training with evolving sector needs.
- Integrate insights from consultancy projects and industry exposure into curriculum and training design.
- Represent RC in sector platforms, conferences, and collaborative initiatives to enhance organisational visibility and influence.
Job Holder Requirements
- A good tertiary qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Education, Special Education, Psychology, Social Sciences) with Diploma in Special Education (DISE) or equivalent professional qualification in Special/Inclusive Education.
- ACTA/ACLP certified is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Substantial experience (8+ years) working directly with persons with disabilities and alongside sector professionals such as SPED educators and allied health practitioners.
- Proven track record in the design and delivery of high-quality, evidence-based training interventions and learning development activities, across both face-to-face and digital platforms.
- Strong experience in developing competency-based learning programmes and interventions, particularly in the field of disability and special education.
