We are looking for an Early Intervention Teacher (DS-Plus) to join our Early Intervention / Preschool Programme.
The Early Intervention Teacher is is responsible for providing quality and effective learning experiences for students through the best deliverance of the curriculum and use of effective teaching and classroom management strategies.
To enable this, the Early Intervention Teacher (DS-Plus) partners preschool educators, family members, allied professionals, community and other relevant stakeholders, engages in reflective practice and professional and personal development, and continuously seeks to innovate and enhance teaching and learning practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure Student Learning & Development
- Evaluate and assess student needs to develop appropriate individualised learning objectives and outcomes, and for adopting and adapting instructional strategies and accommodations
- Design and create effective instructional plans, learning materials, and learning environments
- Facilitate the development of students with engaging, differentiated, evidence-based practices, independently and in team teaching
- Pro-actively facilitate and manage the students and learning environment to enhance motivation and behaviour, and opportunities for learning
- Provide physically, emotionally and socially-safe relationships and environments for enhancing care and facilitating of learning for the students
- Monitor, assess, record and report on the progress and attainment of learning by students
Collaborate for Optimal Student Learning & Development
- Deploy and lead the use of transdisciplinary approach for effective planning, coordination and execution of development strategies
- Work with parents, family, caregivers, community partners, and relevant stakeholders for contextualization and generalization of learning at the learner’s home and community
- Collaborate with parents, family, caregivers and relevant stakeholders for a family-centered planning for learning and life goals, continuing development, and preparation for future life stages
Develop Self & Innovate for Greater Impact
- Engage in self-reflective practice and supervision for improved professional practice; Coaches teachers who teach in the same session
- Participate in initiatives that improve and innovate processes to enhance the learning and development of the students, and the functioning of the organisation
Job Holder Requirements:
- Possess a Diploma/Degree in related field of study, with a Specialist Diploma in Early Childhood Intervention (Special Needs) (SDESN); OR possess a relevant degree/diploma with NIEC Specialist Diploma in Early Childhood Intervention/Certificate in Autism and Higher Certificate in Autism
- At least 3 years of relevant working experience with proven ability to lead a teaching team and work in a transdisciplinary setting
- Able to handle the physical demands of the role, such as lifting and carrying the students and equipment, and cleaning and maintaining equipment and facilities.
