Reporting to the Senior Early Interventionist (SEI) and working under the supervision of the SEI and Early Interventionist, the Assistant Teacher supports the teaching team to provide quality learning experiences for students and support the best deliverance of the curriculum.
The Assistant Teacher position is catered to applicants who are currently enrolled or are eligible to be enrolled into the Specialist Diploma in Early Childhood Intervention (SDESN)
Key Responsibilities:
Provide Curriculum & Instructional Excellence
- Develop lessons, design activities and prepare lesson resources for teaching and learning
- Implement appropriate modes of assessment, independently or under supervision, to evaluate student needs to develop appropriate individualised learning objectives and outcomes
- Adopt appropriate teaching and learning approaches to meet the needs of children
- Apply the health, safety, nutritional and hygiene practices in accordance with standards and procedures
Deliver Interventions
- Deliver lessons for individual and group classes using evidence-based pedagogy and meaningful activities, to meet the educational needs of individual students under supervision with other social service and Allied Professionals
- Deliver interventions using appropriate methods, tools and assistive technologies to support learning
- Implement appropriate classroom management strategies such as classroom routines
- Monitor, assess, record and report student progress for student development
Collaborate with Families and Stakeholders Across Disciplines
- Participate in transdisciplinary approach for effective planning, coordination and execution of development strategies
- Work with parents, family, caregivers, community partners, and relevant stakeholders to enhance student and family outcomes
- Participate with volunteers and relevant stakeholders to support student's involvement in the community with supervision
Develop Self and Others for Greater Impact
- Engage in self-reflective practice and supervision for improved professional practice
- Contribute to implement organisational or unit wide initiatives to achieve Rainbow Centre’s and the unit’s goals and objectives
- Participate in initiatives that improve and innovate processes to enhance the learning and development of the students, and the functioning of the organisation
Job Holder Requirements:
- Possess a Diploma/Degree in related field of study (Psychology, Social Work, Human Services) from a recognised Tertiary Institution
- Candidates must be currently enrolled or are eligible to be enrolled into SDESN
- Able to handle the physical demands of the role, such as lifting and carrying the students and equipment, and cleaning and maintaining equipment and facilities.
